Book in a Box, a one-stop shop that turns ideas into books, needed a marketing website for a customer on short notice. With less than two weeks until the launch of “Explosive Growth,” I honed the design process down to the key steps that would provide the best outcome in the limited time we had.

Working directly with the end customer and the Book in a Box team, we considered several CMS systems, including Squarespace and Flat-File systems (Grav, Kirby, etc.), but determined Wordpress would be the best fit. The platform’s flexibility and popularity would make it relatively easy for the end customer to expand the website in the near future, an important requirement for this project.

Several different aesthetic directions were considered before we hit upon the final look-and-feel: a bold and dynamic look that paired well with the author’s story, while reflecting the design elements of the soon-to-be-published book.

In the end, I delivered a highly customized Wordpress website. To make it easier for the customer to both maintain and edit the website, I provided extensive documentation and walk-through videos. I covered the most critical parts of maintaining the website, how to edit and modify content through the customized content management system, and ways in which the website could be expanded in the future.

Rob is the ultimate combination: a fantastic web designer, a reliable and airtight coder, and a professional freelancer. Finding a developer who can just do ONE of those things (especially reliable coding or good UX) is hard enough as it is -- it's next to impossible to find someone who's good at all three. What makes Rob different from most independent contractors is his professionalism. I've recommended his services to dozens of people, because I know he'll take good care of them. Hire him!
